Best graphic Logo Design software
The series of Packt Publishing Awards continues today with the results of best open source graphics software of the year . In competition, we had: Blender , Gimp , Inkscape , JMonkeyEngine and Scribus .
The vote of the community spoke and the three winners are in order:
Blender is a free software and free animation, 3D modeling and rendering. It has advanced features for modeling, 3D sculpture, UV unwrapping, texturing, rigging (rigging) of Armoring, 3D animation, and rendering.
It also manages non-linear editing, compositions, nodal creating materials, creating interactive 3D applications, and various physical simulations such as particles, rigid bodies, soft bodies and fluids.
Blender is available on Windows, Mac OS X, GNU / Linux, IRIX, Solaris, FreeBSD, SkyOS, MorphOS and Pocket PC.
GIMP, the GNU Image Manipulation Program, is a free software processing bitmap images (drawing, editing, animation, etc..). It is often presented as a free alternative to Adobe Photoshop.
It is available on Windows, Mac OS X, GNU / Linux.
Inkscape is an open source vector graphics editing, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, Freehand, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the format Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files W3C standard. The main purpose of Inkscape is to create a powerful design tool and easy to use, fully compliant with XML, SVG, and CSS standards.
It is available on Windows, Mac OS X, GNU / Linux.

Wrong
To say that the apple is faster is wrong. a pc is just as fast if not faster. and for a computer specialist type to say that is asinine. years ago macs were better suited for graphic design and the likes but over time the pc has caught up on lost ground. high end rendering software like maya have moved exclusively to the pc platform.
saying your work will move faster if you use a mac is such a misleading statement. your work will not move faster if you use a mac nor if you use a pc. i dont even know how to attack that statement its so naive and one sided. years ago people got trained on the mac to for those tasks and its no wonder these same people are saying macs are "better" than pc's for graphic design
Help, I need computer science certification/edu!
To learn what employers in general (corporate or non) look for in someone who knows how to network computers, update the PC or Mac OS, and basically understand and improve the whole businesses information architecture.
That's my goal.
Problem? I have a bachelors degree that is seemingly irrelevant to computer science.
My current status is, unmarried, no kids, 32 years old, but young looking. So I've got all that going for me.. (I'm serious, lol.)
While I am quite creative and talented enough in design/art, and there are somewhat useful certification programs in web design and graphic design at a reputable design school close to me, I'm not sure going down that route would get me anywhere
